Ten everyday habits that are harmful to our kidneys...

1. Inadequate water consumption

Inadequate water consumption is the main factor that aggravates our kidneys on a day-to-day basis. When we do not drink enough water, the flow of blood to the kidneys is reduced, with the result that our blood is not detoxified.

There is only one answer to the “big” question - “Doctor, how much water should I drink?” “As much as you need to quench your thirst!!”

2. A bladder which is full most of the time

When we leave the bladder full of urine for a long time, various complications to the urinary system may develop. Remaining in this state consistently for a long time may result in kidney failure.

3. Overconsumption of sodium

The amount of sodium we consume means that our kidneys are burdened with yet another job to do. Salt is the main source of sodium, so we should avoid consuming too much salt.

4. Overconsumption of caffeine

When we are thirsty, we often drink something like coffee, soft drinks or sodas. Caffeine can increase arterial pressure and high blood pressure transfers the pressure to the kidneys.

5. Abuse of painkillers

It is a bad habit to take painkillers for every little pain you feel. Most painkillers have serious side-affects and may damage various organs, mainly the kidneys and the liver.

6. Overconsumption of protein

Overconsumption of red meat or other protein rich foods can worsen the state of already “tired” kidneys.

7. Overconsumption of alcohol

Excessive consumption of alcohol is damaging to the kidneys.

8. Smoking

A large number of studies have shown that there is a link between smoking and renal failure.

9. Ignoring colds or flu

Ignoring the common cold or the flu is a habit which can damage your kidneys.

10. Insomnia

Our organ tissues are renewed at night as we sleep. If we do not sleep enough, this procedure is interrupted, leading to many organs being damaged.
